In today's video I tackle one of the most common questions I get from female travelers. Submitted by user PureAsVenom she asked, "Do you think it's safe to travel solo as a female? If so which countries would you suggest to be most ideal and any tips/precautions?"

The short answer? You bet! For the long answer make sure to watch the video.

  • Thank you for making this video. My parents are making a big deal about me traveling alone while backpacking in Europe this summer (only 8 days out 33- my sister is going to be with me most of the time!). I plan on showing this to them! I just hope I meet some awesome people while I'm out there :)

  • @foxyfreelance1 Thanks Foxy, have an amazing trip!

  • Great video! Made me feel so much better and really excited for when I go travelling! Think you for putting my mind at ease! You are a fantastic, natural presenter with such valuable information. Thanks again.

  • @21krizchristensen If you want a great way to transition try doing a study abroad trip during the summer for a few weeks (vs. a full semester). Or, start reading the blogs of solo female backpackers =) there are a lot of great ones like Pommie ravels and Adventurous Kate.

  • I wish I have the guts. I'm 18 . I am planning to start this backpacking alone when I graduate college and save money. Probably, I will try it at 21. I really wish I have the guts.

  • @NicolelovesPotC The only way to do it. Check out Brendan's Adventures top 100 list for a few. Google wont let me hotlink, just google it.

  • Thanks! I am looking for some blogs from female travellrs right now. Event though I can't convince my folk, I'll be going anyway ;)

  • @leandroalves100 Fantastic! Great to hear it helped easy your mind and encouraged you to take the plunge. Enjoy the trip!

  • @alexismogollon Great to hear Alexis, I hope the trip ends up being enjoyable and a huge success!

  • @NicolelovesPotC Yep, all about playing it smart! The biggest danger is really going out and drinking a bit too much late at night. Some control or making sure you have decent people to wing you from the hostel is key!

Convincing your folks can be difficult. One thing to do is search the wealth of female solo travel blogs out there and then pass those on to your folks. If I remember right, there are actually more women solo travelers then men. Surprising ehh? GL!
