Dynamics of EM energy in the plasmonic crystal

Dynamics of EM energy in the optimized plasmonic crystal. Movie shows XY dynamical distribution (on the input side of the crystal -- 5 nm above the structure) of the instantaneous intensity in the unit cell of the crystal (here periodic boundaries in x and y dimensions are implemented). Current time in fs is shown in the upper right corner. This crystal is designed by genetic algorithm optimizations to specifically depolarize incoming incident laser radiation. Simulations are performed at ANL supercomputer facilities, namely, BlueGene/L cluster.
