http://www.FTV.com/videos PARIS - Alexis Mabille always wows us with his couture runway at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week because the gowns, dresses, and pieces, while luxe, overwhelming, beautiful, detailed, and intricate, typically have some perfect theme that makes the whole collection come together. This Spring/Summer 2012 season was no different. The designer, who also does menswear and womenswear, brightened up with color. Focus on color and not on embellishment, each dress was one color and each model's face was painted the same. Each model also wore a giant headdress on her head that looked like a flower in bloom. Mabille says he was inspired by a photograph of model Lisa Fonssagrives on the beach, her face highlighted with a pink color provided by the sunlight that was shining through her umbrella.
While the dream came alive and the clothes were nice, it didn't really establish the designer as a force to be reckoned with--there was nothing that was overwhelmingly beautiful as to be picked up by a red carpet star or would make a high quality statement at a socialite's party. Still, the point was made.

I don't think it's lackluster, but I do think that Mabille lives and creates in his own little world, which at times can be a little hard to relate too.
