i feel like he is undermining the immensity of dark matter. comparing it to the fact that neutrinos were once missing matter seems insufficient.

They can't "find" dark energy because it's like time, you can't "see" it but you know it's there

I take back my defense of this potential energy - the case for its existence seems more a specious filler for balancing gravitational equations, not one based on evidence.

Um, that sounds like a big mystery to me. Maybe dark matter is permanently opaque and thus cannot be illuminated and is permeable to most forms of radio detection.
