Obstacles to a climate change agreement in Copenhagen

World leaders gathered at the United Nations on Tuesday to discuss the global environment, with the aim of generating momentum ahead of talks this December in Copenhagen, where nations will try to agree on a new treaty to reduce greenhouse gasses.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said failure to reach broad agreement would be morally inexcusable. U.S. President Barack Obama said the threat is urgent and growing. And Chinas president said his country will continue to take determined action.
Kumi Naidoo, chairman of Tck Tck Tck and future executive director of Greenpeace International, joins Daljit Dhaliwal to discuss the major obstacles to getting an agreement in Copenhagen.

I think what he's talking about is that none of these leaders are going to be in power in 2050 and therefore cannot be held accountable for decisions made for a time so far off. However, many of them may still be around in 2020.

the rest of the world needs the USA because most of the tax carbon credits will be paid by the US and redistributed to the poor countries. The funny thing is the people of the US are gonna bend over and let it happen.

If a country is so poor where it can't support itself, then maybe it's time for land takeovers and other countries to absorb these folks into their wealthier countries. If they refuse occupation, then why should we shell out our money to these countries. This is like a bum on the street demanding money from people on the street just because they contribute to their economy and that is a guilty sin.

Why don't they just execute us all and get it done with in one quick swoop?
