Apple paid millions in shares to Xerox to tour there PAC facility. They then went they're own direction on GUI. Read "Creation Myth" in the New Yorker by Malcolm Gladwell

Pirates of Silicon Valley was not an accurate historical representation of events. Steve Jobs was out of Apple before Windows was released and MS invested heavily in Apple in it's early days. The feud between Jobs and Gates was created by the media. Jon Scully was the real reason MS had to separate its interests from Apple so much. Once Jobs came back, MS was right back on board helping them with software.

Now Windows 2.0 and 3.0 DID rip off a lot from the Mac, but that was AFTER Steve Jobs was ousted from Apple. Also, the reason Apple lost in court was that they Apple CEO, Scully, licensed key pieces of the Apple OS to Windows, so they didn't have any ground to stand on in court. It had nothing to do with the "look and feel" of the OS. It had to do with the fact that they accidentally gave away key parts of the operating system to Microsoft because Scully didn't understand what he wad doing.

Actually, Steve Jobs had been kicked out of Apple before Windows was created, and the first Windows did not resemble Mac OS at all. Windows 1.0 completely sucked. Part of the reason that Bill created Windows was because he wanted to deal with Apple under Jobs and not Apple under the idiots that took it over later. Pirates of Silicon Valley was mostly made up BS. Don't get your facts from movies people.

Very sad. Not common knowledge because Steve Jobs never said that.
-
No get off my back. Get your facts right and screw off.

No You get your facts right. It's common knowledge that Apple was 30 days away from Bankruptcy and Steve Jobs himself has been quoted as that if M$ didn't give invest in Apple during that time, Apple would not be here.
If your too damn lazy to do a google search for yourself, then I can't help you, nor am I going to waste my time arguing with a lazy prick such as yourself.

Get your facts right. At All Things D, Steve Jobs said they were 90 days from being bankrupt. Not 30. So, you got that detail wrong. Do you know what income Apple had in 1997? Do you know what cash reserves they had? Do you know what actual fiscal moves were really taken? It's a simple fact that $150 million is a very small number compared to Apple's 1997 CAP. Do you even know what that means? If you can't get simple timescale quotes right, you're not worth debating with.

Yes that is what saved Apple. It was 30 days from bankruptcy by that point, if it didn't get the capital needed, it was FUCKED.
Steve Jobs himself has said publicly many times that if Microsoft hadn't invested that money, Apple wouldn't be here today. Get your facts right before spouting your crap.

This video leaves me wanting to strangle that duplicitous, whiney little fuck.

No...
Microsoft WROTE MS-DOS, Apple never "stole" it, Apple never bought Xerox, and Microsoft never stole Xerox.
Apple worked upon Xerox's GUI idea and made improvements to it (like creating the menu bar, etc.), MICROSOFT STOLE IT ALL FROM APPLE and now people are walking around thinking Microsoft invented the computer.
And I'm a Linux user too. But I like Macs a little better.
