Black Sabbath - Geezer Hit with Bottle...Riot Ensues

Milwaukee, WI 10/9/1980 - One of the greatest audio testaments to a concert riot that exists. Just the third song into the show (Sabbath had already played War Pigs and Neon Knights), Dio gives the nod to Geezer to start N.I.B. All that happens is a thud...which is presumably Geezer hitting the floor after some jackass threw a bottle and hit him in the head. Dio turns on the lights and lectures the crowd a bit. Then the road manager and tour promoter come out and give a brief statement. Sabbath does not come back though, and the crowd gets pissed. Supposedly dozens were arrested and there was $10,000 damage to the arena. Funny thing was that the Milwaukee Bucks had a game the following night. Wonder how that worked out?

I was at this show..... it sucked when the riot squad showed up.... It really was the Black and Blue tour. I also saw the same line up at the Rockford speedway earlier in the summer.

That must of been an experience.

Not to be a pedant, but you actually saw the Dio/Iommi/Butler/Ward lineup in Rockford earlier that year. It would of been one of Bill's last shows with the band before they got Appice and I believe it's the last one with Bill where an audience recording exists.

Anyone can get it. 95% of it I've found online, shared, and anyone can download it. It's all about looking in the right places and various places. Keep in mind, this is like an accumulation over 5 years (and still counting).

funny....i was at the last show in nashville when nobody could find ozzy and van halen had already played.....they came out and said they were cancelling....and the same thing happened, stuff was thrown...some guy threw a 40 pound fire extinguisher onto the drum kit and totally destroyed it....if you had your ticket stub they gave refunds so we got our money back while they trashed the place...hell we figured we came to see van halen anyway....ozzy was fired after that.......just the luck we had
