Nite Versions by Soulwax

Released in 2005 on PIAS.

Soulwax is an electro / rock / dance / punk band from Belgium that formed in 1992. They started out as an alternative rock band and slowly turned more electronic over time.

This album is just a reworking and remixing of their previous album called "Any Minute Now". It is also quite badass. Probably the best electro / dance album I have ever heard.

As with any club / dance friendly album, their are rough spots and some cheesy moments, but they are kept to a minimum. This is mostly just some soaring sounds, crazy guitar riffs, out of control synths and samples. Really over the top, out of control type shit.

My jaw dropped and face melted off when I first heard it. I wasn't on any drugs that I can remember taking on purpose. Actually really good.

Yeah, mashups suck. These guys are supposed to be good friends with the DFA guys. My friend and I were stunned for like 2 minutes when we first how crazy good this album was. We didn't move.

Special techno comes from special places. I heard some great stuff yesterday morning on the radio. We have a public radio station that actually has a weekly techno show that airs from 2am to 6am on Thursdays. Shitty timeslot, but good music.
