Atheism is the fastest growing group. The astonishing thing is that hardly anybody is raised as an atheist. It's a process that may take decades to free oneself from the received brainwashing.

  • Proud to be a Turkish atheist from the UK!

  • @Turoyan I think that neither Turk or Greek Cypriots today can ever let the situation get to an Israel/Palestine situation. Religion is unique in that is unable to adapt, and is non-negotiable as far as core doctrines are concerned. At least political ideologies soften and adapt (evolve!) to the point where they can co-exist peacefully. I think the Cyprus problem has many facets but religion need not be one of them. Good day to you sir!

  • @Turoyan Hi, thanks for your message. I agree with you my friend. Although I think there were other issues going on at the time (political differences and territorial disputes and nationalist identities. It was a time when political ideaologies were extreme (ie communism etc) I do think religion could be a dividing factor in Cyprus. It may be diffcult for the 1974 generations (on both sides) to reconcile, but our generation could make a diiference. Respect to you sir! :-)

  • @justmyopinion3500 because Europe is sold out, Europeans are scared shitless of muslims, they have no balls and they sold out freedom of speech as well

  • @TurkiyeCumhurbaskani As an turkish atheist you can't be happy in Germany. Even politicians force children to follow islamic ideology.

we atheist have no religion, that's why we can build peace between Greece and Turkey.Because we have no reason which devide us.As you said people have wounds, but all those wars was because of religion. We shouldn't be a part of this.Religion also use our wounds.Religious people believe that they fought in the name of god.In fact the reason of those wounds was religion itself. All atheists are alone in society while others are united,at least we must be united for the favor of everyone

  • @rossini55

My brother,it was religion divided us(Greeks and Turks).Actually we were same people once, but some converted to islam and became Turk.If Turks would be christian, today there would be no land problem.Being Greek represents 'christianity' and being 'turk' represents islam.Greeks were labeled as 'chiristian' like turks as 'muslim'.I wish the same for Cyprus and I also hope Turks and Greeks unite.

  • @Turoyan Hi, :-) I am interested in this debate and was wondering what part religious differences play in the Cyprus problem. I am an atheist of Greek-Cypriot origin, and think that maybe religion may be a hurdle to reconciliation over the island, or it purely teritory based. I am not here to open old wounds but wish to see Turkish/Greek cypriots living in a united cyprus. What role can atheists from both sides play to ease this situation? Or is it a non factor in the issue? Thanks 4 your time.

  • What a brave young lady. I salute you!!
