The morning is dead
and the day is too
there's nothing left here to (leave?) me
but the velvet moon
all my loneliness
I have felt today
it's a little more than enough
to make a man throw himself away

and I continue
to burn the midnight lamp
alone

now the smiling portrait of you
is still hanging on my frowning wall
it really doesn't
it really doesn't bother me
too much at all
it's just the uh ever falling dust
that makes it so hard for me to see
that forgotten earring laying on the floor
facing coldly towards the door

and I continue
to burn the midnight lamp
all alone
burn
lonely, lonely, lonely
loneliness is such a drag

So here I sit to face
that same old fireplace
getting ready for the same old explosion
going through my mind
and soon enough time will tell
about the circus in the wishing well
and someone who will buy and sell for me
someone to toll my bell

but I continue
to burn the midnight lamp
alone
darling
can you hear me calling you
so lonely
gonna' have to blow my mind
lonely

  • There's nothing left here to (lead) me. =D

  • @MikeBruceSullivan point on mister buisnessman point on... YOU CANT DRESS LIKE I DO...

  • @Django5198 This is the BBC sessions version ;)

  • Is this a studio outtake or a live version? Nice model by the way. What is it?

  • "someone who will buy and sell for me" is like the line from"If a six were a 9": "white collar conservative businessman pointing his finger @ me..." (anti-establishment lyrics). be a rebel sometimes...

  • i used to think that this song was "the morning is dead,,

& the day is too.she's comin upstairs to meet me, but the bell didn't move,

all my loneliness, I have felt to be--it's a little more than enuf to make a man throw himself away. "

Hey..Leon Hendrix, if you're listening,.. please contact me on a creative project-I'm a creative dynamo! thanks for the real lyrics, but miy interpretation I humbly believe is just as good. I love the line.."someone who will buy & sell for me.."

  • yay
