This is truly inspirational. I am in a tiny village in the forest in America. I'm going to go outside and join in. My neighbors might not understand but the mountains and the stars certainly will. Allaho Akbarr!

As an American I have no idea what this means. So can an Iranian explain it? I assume it is just people chanting that don't support the current government?

"Allaho Akbar" means God is great. The Iranian people show their dissatisfaction by chanting God is great at nights. Now, this is significant because of a few reasons. God is great used to be what people shouted during the 1979 revolution. They used the same technique to show their dissatisfaction with the previous regime. So its pretty ironic.

This is also very strong because it is a very effective non-violent way of showing your protest. If you can't control the streets during the day capture the night.

They are protesting the regime by shouting "God is great!" from their rooftops in the middle of the night. It's one of the few forms of protest that the regime cannot stop. And it was a tactic used in the original revolution of 1979. The people are essentially telling the regime that God is on their side and their voices will not be silenced.
