OMG.... I am breathless, speechless, almost dizzy with awe. Waltraud Meier's rendition of this incredible aria is about as close to total perfection as the human voice can achieve. Nothing can follow it. Nothing. [*I need several minutes of silence before even attempting to listen to anything else.*] Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

@AlexanderBritain I was at the opening night performance. My wife and i really enjoyed ourselves. Debbie Voigt did a good job. But Waltraud Meier was great. Bear in mind though, that Waltraud has a small part, and could really cut loose. Also, I don't think she is willing to sing Brunhilde, so how well she would have done as Brunhilde is a moot point..

This is the greatest Isolde available to us at the present - she is singing Waltraute in the Met's new "Goetterdaemmerung" while the incapable Debbie Voigt gives us another underwhelming Wagner Portrayal of Bbruennhilde!!!
