Turkmen President & U.S. Official Discuss Energy Cooperation Prospects

Turkmenistan's president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow held a meeting today with U.S. Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Richard Morningstar, who arrived in Asgabat to attend celebrations marking the 15th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanently neutral status.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues concerning prospects for bilateral relations. Partnership potential in the fuel and energy sector and the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project were the main topics discussed.

The high-ranking U.S. official confirmed the growing interest among U.S. business circles in cooperation with Turkmenistan in the oil and gas sector.
