Connie Hawkins was the original high flyer who was blacklisted but eventually made it to the NBA. Erving gets his game from studying "The Hawk". He got that nickname by swooping in and dunking on people. Hawkins was like an F4...Erving was an F-15 and Jordan was like a stealth bomber. Each generation improves on what the latter did. The NBA was in trouble in the 70's and the ABA merger with Dr.J helped make it what it has become today. No Erving? The NBA would have broken up into a lesser league
