Who am I as a Muslim - The Muslim Identity by Sheikh Abdur Raheem McCarthy.

Sheikh Abdur Raheem McCarthy went to the East to seek knowledge after he accepted Islam at the age of 18 in United States. He lives in Sudan and is a personal friend of sheikh Kamal el-Mekki. Among his references for acceptance into the University of Madinah was Sheikh bin Baz (r) whom he personally met in Saudi Arabia. He has studied under many great scholars in Sudan, and Saudi Arabia including Sheikh Jafar Idris and Sheikh Uthaymeen (r). This is his first visit back to the West after 15 years.

  • assalamu'alaykum, if i remember it right, there is a hadith saying, there are men who were good before Islam and after conversion. Yess we see many of them now in our time and our bro.here is one of them. MashaaAllah. Though i donno his life before but he is now a better muslim , knowledge wise, compared to some of those the so-called =born muslim= And inshaaAllah correct knowledge will lead to correct act. May Allah bless you bro.

  • he isnt british he doesnt even have a british accent..he is american from what i know

  • How I wish to be able to go to Islamic countries and learn under scholars.

  • from Istanbul with solidarity

  • Alhumdillah! Jazakallakhairun for this wonderful lecture! I found it most down to earth and enlightening. I will be sure to look for this scholar in the future, inshallah.

  • Masha Allah.

  • These kind of people remind me of days of Mohammad (SAW) when personalities like Hazarat Omar and Khalid bin waleed who were once on other side and when they accepted Islam they became legends and peers of Islam..That is what we are seeing now.

  • Alhumdulillah

  • jazaa kumullaah

  • I'm shocked he mentioned Sayyid Qutb rahimahullah in a praisworthy manner (or his stance). Was not his stance one of rebellion and discord?
