"Dustee Tanara" PHPA 649 first ride under saddle! Tanara was bought from the doggers as a pale skinny 18 month old filly. She has since been sold on and is a riding pony for a 5 year old little girl. She is the dam of two foals both sired by Dunsplashin Warpainter PHPA 282.

  • whats the doggers?

  • Doggers is a word used to refer to horse and cattle buyers who send the animals to slaughter to be made into canned dog food among other things.

  • she looks too young fot a first ride. You should wait at least till their two because they arent finished growing. but she looks nice

  • At the risk of repeating myself, shes a PONY and at breaking was closer to 3 years old, shes not designed to get big, thats what a pony is. Derr!

  • What was that bag for?

Was it because horses can freak out if they hear a plastic bag rattling and you were trying to get her use to it or something?

  • You guessed right, however you should never just whack a bag on a horse without getting it accustomed to it on the ground first. Its a variation of the old term and method of "bagging".

  • beautiful little girl!!!

  • That pony is a beauty! I want her! <3

  • she is beautiful... what breed is she, i cant get over how nice her colour is

  • Ok, obviously you must be one of the just jump on and hope for the best crowd hey? Here we make sure a horse is comfortable with us before we hop on, 9 out of 10 breakers of ours act just like this, its all in the groundwork.

  • As someone has already stated ponys of the best type are bred to carry and pull weight, I am more comfortable with this weight on a 3 year old sturdy built pony than a slim 2 year old thoroughbred thats for sure!

  • Your HORSE - thats the operative word, some people have ponies, they arent designed to get any bigger and this mare is a PONY, so of course your horse would have been way bigger, you or the breaker were probably also a lot shorter. LOL

  • Thanks BestKeptSecret you've asked what a lot of people didnt have the brains to do, when this filly was broken in she was around 3 years old. Of course not completely correct as we had to guess age using her teeth and development.
