This is my 92 eagle talon non-turbo 2.0L. I HAD two problems that are concerning me. first the engine WOULD not rev past 4,000 unless i unplug the airflow meter, but then the check engine light will be on, i've replaced the sensor. Also the engine runs better when the ignition timing is way off. I FIXED THE PROBLEM. It was the ECU

  • my 92 eagle talon turbo has a problem.it idles up and down erratically in park but not in dirve.it also doesnt have full power.i cleaned the throttle body, didnt help at all.

  • @mrmateo513 Sounds like you've got idle surge. Google search "Terry's Talon Troubleshooting, it should be the first page to come up and it should help you fix the problem if it is idle surge.

  • how do you adjust the ignition timing?

  • @countryboyG The timing is adjusted by rotating the Cam Angle Sensor. but before you do that the car has to be warmed up, and connect a jumper wire to the terminal for ignition-timing adjustment and ground the other end to the frame, then you can rotate the cam angle sensor till your timing is right. (you should also have a timing light to help you.) Check out VFAQ (just google VFAQ) if you haven't already. that site has tutorial for everything with DSMs. I'll PM you the link.

  • i have the same thing and its pissing me off

  • @happyweedguy My mistake, the ECU I have is for a 1990 turbo engine

  • thanks for the link freakinxawesome, you are freakin awesome man,lol i'm gonna check it out right now.

  • just throw some seafoam in there

  • @freakinxawesome all ready did all that i have had it for a year and its the last thing to change. i have two meks looking at it and its what all of us think but thanks for the info =)

  • @happyweedguy When it comes down to it, you're car either isn't getting enough air, or not enough fuel, so you'll want to check then fuel lines, fuel filter, injectors, etc. and then check the intake, make sure the TB opens all the way, no clogs or anything like that. But for me, what fixed it was a new computer, The old one was just cutting off fuel at around 4K RPMs. I have a rebuilt one for a 92 n/t that i'm going to be selling. I don't need it anymore, let me know if you're interested
