My dad was a huge fan of Mr. Laine and as often happens, you tend to 'inherit' your parents heroes - often have I had people snicker at me for liking this kind of music, because of my relatively young age, yet I listen to what makes me happy.
Add to that, that my dad was very good at imitating his voice, so whenever I listen to Frankie Laine, I'm reminded of my dad :)

@NYVoice I am 49 and I dig. I love, love, love vocalists. I had no idea that they were not known now. Love Doris and Mills Bros and all the stuff from that era. Are we throwbacks? :-D Good! Happy to be one. MULE TRAIN RAWHIDE!!! Get 'em up!!

I love Frankie and I'm "only" 50. Are you all aware that Mitch Miller is still alive and living up in Buffalo, NY? Amazing. The late 40s early 50s era is a much forgotten period of popular song. Frankie was probably it's biggest vocalist along with a young Tony Bennett, Guy Mitchell, Como, Doris Day, folks like that. Only on clips such as this could one realize what a huge star he was at the time. I saw him on Long Island in 1989 at Lido Beach. He was, of course, marvelous.

@NYVoice
Your right, this period in our musical history is overlooked and deamonized and I have never been able to figure out why. This was a period when the Singer was the most important not the Band or the group. You might say that the period between 1945 and 1957 is the Lost Generation. Today few know anything about the fifties and the sad thing is they don't want to know.

Your very welcome. This show was never put out by any company for sale. This show I got from someone I knew in England who had it copied from the orginal tape. It was in the
British format which is different than ours.
So I had to have the VHS tape transfered to
our format then I put it on a DVD. I thought A lot of Fans would like to see it.
