This British-born arranger and conductor played in the Bomber Command Band of the RAF during WW2 and subsequently went on to lead his own orchestra. In 1958 he caught lightning in a bottle with "Manhattan Spiritual", a recording which went into the Top 10 in late 1958 on into 1959. The music would soon then be used as a popular lead-in for a lot of radio and television programming.

@jekiwe LOL, thanks for the note...all I can recall about the 45rpm was that it had a red and white label...I will be gone for a solid week from Feb. 25 - Mar.3 so I'm posting a few more in advance of my extended absence.
