Are you a complainer? Be honest. Do you like being around complainers? Of course not.
The act of complaining is more than simply negative because what you are saying is negative. That negativity impacts your life. When you complain, you are focusing on what is wrong as opposed to what is right. Since we are all made up of energy, our thoughts, feelings, and words carry energy as well. The negative vibration that stems from complaining goes out into the universe, grabs other negative things, and brings them into your life in the form of unfulfilling relationships, careers, etc.
I have a challenge for you. It requires you to be very aware and mindful, to have some present moment consciousness as I like to call it. Take one day—a solid 24 hours—and every time you start to complain, catch yourself, and stop. How often do you want to complain and say something negative? It may be more often than you think. Know that bringing awareness to the habit is the first step in overcoming it and replacing it with a more positive one.
Let me know how the challenge goes for you. What did you learn? Maybe you can dig deeper and get to the root of why you complain and the dissatisfaction you feel.
Your emotional wellbeing and relationships are worth the time and effort to overcome the chronic complainer syndrome! You don't like being around a complainer, and neither does anyone else. Be the positivity you want to draw to you.

This has been helpful. I am going to try it again today. I have had several people ask me about it too, which helps to remind me to not complain.
I did complain the first day though, when I had to go pick up my expensive prescription at the pharmacy. I caught myself, stopped and said I was glad I had the money to pay for it. When I got to the pharmacy, it ended up only costing my $15 deductible. I was so happy, I bought my co-worker ice cream. :)

Was at a meeting early this morning where the subject discussed was personal and emotional. This was in my box when I got home and have sent it on to those who participated this morning who I have addresses for. Timely...

Pathological Complainers will be helped by your indications and advices. But Complaints based on Moral & Ethical foundations coupled with a "planned methodology to revert the complaining causing factor ", will improve Society. I always ask my complaining friends to analyse their reasoning. It makes them realize the level & soundness of their complains, which often brings them to a logical seeking path. On the other hand, abstaining from complaining sounds like... the silence of the Lambs.

Thank you Terri.- There are many "ranks" of complainers. There are the pathological ones (your target audience perhaps) and the bona fide complainers, who have followed a process in visualizing the negative impacts to reach a rightful complaint. - Instead of complaining, I direct my energy/actions into changing the status that creates the complaint. (by influencing, rewarding, and even a mild forcefull attitude).- The truth is that "Complaining in a Skillful way" , brings results. Thanks Terri!
