Thanks for the Roddy McCorley video.I try and do South Australia and the Mermaid down at the local session in the pub.Any chance that you might have a go at these.I do South Australia in B. G chords with capo on 4th fret The Mermaid in G .I would like to be better with the melody any suggestions

Desparately trying to play the banjo !! Are you playing G chords with the capo on the 5th fret ? It would be simpler for people like me if you then put the G chords on the song notation ,love it though more tunes on the banjo please Any of the Clancy brothers Sea shanties ??

@Kilkieran1 Yes, the chord shapes are G C and D7 played at the 5th fret. I usually do show the chords I am playing, but in this case I have shown the actual chords so anyone with a guitar or other instrument can play along without using a capo.

Grand song! Has always been one of my favorites. I've always liked the verse about camping on the Platte, as I grew up near the Platte River in eastern Wyoming! The Oregon/Overland trail passed literally yards from our house.
