Chris Hart may try to put some head measurements or body proportions in his books but the books are still awful. They don't help anyone. Learning to draw anime before learning to draw in general is a big no-no. Not because I dislike anime but because there are fundamental principles you are missing when you skip to the stylized stuff. In fact, there is so much you just don't understand when you just pick up a Chris Hart book, you're doing more harm than good just studying it.

@66greedo I agree with Kitsushika, Katy Coope is terrible. In fact, most "how to draw" books are terrible. If you want to find some REALLY, REALLY good How To Draw manga books that will ACTUALLY HELP YOU, buy some How To Draw books by Chris Hart. I've gone through TONS of how to draw books, and Chris Hart is the only one who actually has tons of helpful stuff in his books.

@McQuarkland I completely agree, and looking back on it now, I'm not sure why I gave Chris Hart so much credit. He's certainly not the best there is. One big mistake in made when I started drawing was concentrating on detail and shading and such before I even learned the basics. Years later, I started over and learned shape, pose, proportions, etc. And now that I know my mistake, I always emphasize the importance of learned ng the basics to anyone getting into drawing Manga.

Oh my gosh! Thank you! Now I can draw anime! This really helped, thank you for making such a great tutorial. And I'm assuming, if I wanted to draw a female I use 5 heads instead of 6?

@DuskfireDream If you re-read what i actually said, Most How to Draw books are indeed terrible, and that would include CHRIS HART. Seriously people, you want to learn how to draw pick up loomis, george bridgeman, or my personal favorite Glen Vilppu. Those guys will teach you how to draw the figure. Not these horrible anime books sold by white people through scholastic.
