Today at 1:55 p.m. the Modesto Fire Department responded to reports of a house on fire at 1608 College Ave. between Granger Ave. and Briggsmore Ave. in Modesto, California.

As the first engines responded they could see a large amount of black smoke billowing into the air as they approached so they immediately called for a second alarm to dispatch additional help.

Fire crews attacked the structure fire however, it continued to spread gaining momentum in the attic of the Victorian style home. So, they dispatched a third alarm which brought a total of 6 Engines, 2 Trucks, and 6 Chief Officers to the scene.

The Modesto Fire Department was able to bring the fire under control after about 45 minutes of hard work.

The occupants of the residence who were home at the time escaped the blaze without injury however, 2 firefighters were injured during the fire fight. On was hit by debris and the other became over heated. Their injuries were considered to be minor. They were treated at the scene by E.M.S. and both immediately returned to duty.

  • @01superduty89 I look at it like a good thing. It means command is watching the situation, the exterior guys can see thing interior cannot. I feel they have they back of the interior guys. A sense of urgency is fine, but you have to keep a level head. Of course if you have a good crew you work with all the time things work a lot smoother.

  • @ffjsb ok bud i know what your saying but ive been at 2 fires were the horns were blown...you dont blow the horns for a downed firefighter, you blow the horns when you need to gtfo wich im sure you know. its not a good thing to hear on the fireground at all i wasnt on the roof venting on one and standing by as RIT on the other... when you hear the horns u get a little nervous knowing the brothers inside are in a shitty enough situation were then need to get out asap

  • nice job guys

  • @ffjsb cause theres a fucking mayday?

  • @ModestoNews Yeah I know that, I'm a firefighter. Why would you be scared? You get out, you can be scared later.

  • @ffjsb He is probably speaking as a firefighter. When firefighters are at a fire and inside a building the Captains will sound their horns if they feel an immediate need to evacuate the firefighters from inside. Like if the building is about to collapse or already collapsing. It's a signal to stop whatever you are doing and get out fast.

  • @01superduty89 Why would you be scared?

  • I hate when people say modesto FD sucks because we might not have more than 100 trucks like the FDNY people need to realize we are a smaller city then NY are trucks are nice and new and its all we need!!
