In a Britain where comedy is illegal, the pursuit of laughter is the domain of a few desperadoes, forced into the shady underworld of comedy clubs and joke dealing. It is a time where crazed protestors are gunned down by ruthless lawmen, and children are warned against the dangers of comic corruption. Groucho is a criminal; a joke peddler with a weakness for his own wares. This pits him against Goon, an undercover cop whose intolerance for humour makes him go to any lengths to stamp out dissent.
