The top U.S. Commander in Afghanistan says it will take a year before the results of President Obama's 30,000 troop surge will be known. General Stanley McChrystal and the U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry, who'd previously opposed a surge, both told the House Armed Services Committee on Capitol Hill, they backed the plan.
