"Atlas Eets Christmas" is the Flaming Lips' secret 2007 Christmas album released in a very limited physical quantity under the pseudonym Imagene Peise (with a sticker that read "Love Is The Answer - Merry Christmas From The Flaming Lips 2007"). Since that time, the album has also streamed at www.myspace.com/imagenepeise. In 2009 "Frosteee" was added to that myspace stream, and also to www.myspace.com/flaminglips - further confirmation this was in fact a secret album by The Flaming Lips (or atleast their musical mastermind, Steven Drozd).

Songs in this video are "Christmas Laughing Waltz" (0:00) "Frosteee" (4:28) "Atlas Eets Christmas" (6:52) "Do You Hear What I Hear" (10:02)

The pseudonym Imagene Peise is a John Lennon-esque spelling of "Imagine Peace" and likewise the album title sounds-out "At last year's Christmas" - both phrases can be heard in the only lyrics on this otherwise instrumental album (8:42 - 9:33).

The alias credits are similarly punning:
Imagene Peise - Piano
Ominog Bangh - Laughing/Crying Glider Synthesizer
Shineyu Bhupal - Drones, Sitar, and Baritone Tambura

www.myspace.com/imagenepeise provides a fictional description of the album and its creation in 1973.
12:37 to the end best exemplifies its actual reputation as "A Charlie Brown Christmas on acid"...

  • I thought the title was supposed to sound like "At last it's Christmas" not, "At last year's Christmas."

  • @loganightingale "At last it's.." makes more sense. I think you might be right.

It still sounds to me like Steven sings "at last year's.." though. Who knows...

  • this is exactly why the Lips mean so much to me.... They touch all the major parts of life, death and celebration. Id listen to this all winter long. Instead it was the Christmas on Mars soundtrack qand film...which can be overwhelming when sitting by a fire. As big as a fan as I know I am Im still discovering B-sides and stuff like this... How do i get my hands on this?

  • @jillygrrl Now that is a cool theory! It would be so very, "Lippish" to do something like that. I have this on my playlist. I listen to it all the time. Truly a stellar piece of music. Thanks

  • @myway43 My theory is that this Imagene Peis is actually a made up person who is trying to teach us all to "Imagine Peace." Yoko is playing at the next Lips show. Imagine Peace is her most common saying. Sean Lennon and the Lips have been tweeting about being in the studio together. :)

  • It's December and I have this playing quite a bit. Beautiful music. I've really learned to appreciate piano as I grow older, it can really move me. Love the flaming lips.

  • I love this, but what exactly is it? I mean was this a remix of Imagene Peise work and then the Lips remixed it with they're contributions on it? Too Cool!
