If the US military is to be released on the American public, troops from the North will be deployed in the South and vice versa. This will provide a larger disconnect for the troops acting against fellow citizens. More likely however, is if America goes to war against another foreign nation, the US military will be overextended and UN troops will be requested and deployed in the US. UN troops will have no problem shooting US citizens.

Im in the camp that believes US military will be convinced by powers at be that our home grown terrorism problem is so out of control that they will need support from UN troops. These foreign troops have already been training here for years.

i dont believe that the military men and women will turn on us. i believe the geverment will try to kill off as many of them as possible over seas and have the TERRORIST police try to kill us all. they will give them the tanks and guns and missles and bombs to kill the american public. this is the fearful problem!!!

add to this that the states police and national guard have been, through both congress and executive order, made subject to the direct control of the president of the US in times of "emergency". this effectively neuters any kind of resistence to tyranny at the federal level, as the founders feared, by individual states. without the check of power even from the states, the fed gov has nothing to fear from some disobedient locals or roving bands of militia.
