I'm so excited! I'm riding the Acela tomorrow from New Haven to Providence taking a Regional back. Looking at some of these comments, they don't tell you when you're going 150, you need to find it yourself. To help me a whole lot, does anyone know about how long before Providence or after New London I can expect about 150 mph?

They did not announce the top speed when I rode it, but my GPS showed a top speed of 146mph.

Yeah, that's cool that top speed was announced. I'm riding it later this week and will try to capture the top speed on my handheld GPS on video.

Thats good to hear that your conductor told when u were traveling at top speed. Mine never do!

Video compression is optimized for large sections of the screen only changing a little. Filming the trees along a train moving that fast gives little opportunity for the compression to work. You could see it present much more detail and a faster frame rate when most of the screen wasn't changing.
