In Volta Region, People called Ewe live in the region. The language spoken there is different from the Accra and Kumasi. Volta Region was once German colony and not a part of Gold Coast. British colony was Gold Coast. Later UK took the region and bacame British colony and got independent with other regions as Ghana.
Accra has changed a lot, drastically since 1986. Economy was buttom in 1984. It was a difficult time. Even for Ghanaian, then tens of thousands left for Nigeria to earn money and eat food 3 times a day.
What a difference!!! Ghana is a success story of IMF policy.
However, Kpandu has changed so little. Population has increased and more cars are running but the goods on the table in the market was the same and way of living was the same. Never seen internet cafe in Kpandu. The kindness and hospitality is the same. People spoke to us, "Wezo!" means "Welcome" more than several times. Very easy to talk to people and spend sometime chatting with them. Most of people speak English with some accent but you get used to it soon. When I talked to Old woman in market, she was selling oranges, I had to speak in Ewe language. She did not go to school, maybe. When it was difficult to say, I asked interpretation whoever near me and they did for me with a smile.
