  • Awesome, even after more then 100 years... This man was waaaay ahead of his time!

  • I think RoyHadders said it all. Melies, a magician, got into trick films in the 1800's and set the par for special effects for that time period.

  • @BlueCougar this guys a genius. I hope the movie Hugo does his legacy justice.

  • @ferociousgumby No doubt Keaton did a very similar scene but there is a chance Keaton had not seen this film because Melies' films were nowhere near as popular in the 1920's as they had been years before. Nonetheless both are wonderful in their own way.

  • Wow! 110 year old CGI!

  • This effect (stunning!) was later ripped off by Buster Keaton, who took credit for it, and Oscar Levant in An American in Paris.
