Plausible Martian Habitats
Unfrozen brine in cryopegs and fracture networks provides habitats for the survival and growth of organisms both within and under frozen rocky materials on Earth and, by analogy, could provide habitats on Mars. Image credit: NASA/Indiana University

  • we are supposed to believe that NASA has only just discovered this even though we have such equipment such as hubble that can see in crystal clear images of far off galaxys but couldnt see this on the next planet to us...hhmmmmmmm fooking bastards

  • @zedubman Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter is much better suited for studying martian surface features than the Hubble is. There was evidence of liquid flow on the surface of Mars for a couple of years now, but it was inconclusive. In fact, it still is, however, we now know that it is more likely to be liquid water than not.

  • You are the first people to see liquid flowing water outside Earth. Remember this moment to tell your grandchildren about.

  • We could be staring extraterrestrials in their faces, by looking at these images, and not even know it.

  • @zedubman Millions of scientists around the world will be stunned to learn of plants, trees and buildings on Mars, because it would contradict to everything we know about this neighborly planet, including its geologic history. If you're not trolling and not insane, please tell me which scientists have made these remarkable discoveries and what probes were utilized for these matters, was it the Mars Reconnissance Orbiter or perhaps ground based observations?

  • @mesofius just because youve only just heard of it doesnt mean it doesnt exist..and if you wanna know the truth look for it and you will find it ...but you wont because you dont want to know the truth. and no im not stupid im just cursed with a way of seeing the truth...i guess you havnt got this curse which makes you a very lucky person...make the most of your luck because that may go..then you too will be cursed for being able to realise what you have missed out on behind that ignorrance.

  • @zedubman This is the first time I've ever heard of PLANTS, TREES AND BUILDINGS on Mars. Are you joking or just plain stupid?

  • @mesofius so you say but the info has been there for some time..as well as pics of plants trees and buildings.but if ur gonna rely on these scientists to tell you the full truth then ur gonna be waiting a long time..all you need todo is open your eyes and your heart along with your mind and you will not need to rely on others to tell you the truth

  • @zedubman What is it lying about? I've seen the images of the water channels two years ago, they were always up, but it was unscientific to draw such drastic conclusions from such brief observations.

  • @mesofius how can i make this easy to understand?? ok lets try again.....NASA is lying to us is that easier to understand???????

  • @zedubman You don't make any sense.

  • @SpaceChronologyCom my point is how can it be inconclusive if weve got the technology to see far beyond in greaaat detail. and dont tell me the orbiter is better for this thing ...we have had the means for a long time to see this water and much more..only the info is being released slowly slowly and ppl beleive them.real sad...peace

  • @SpaceChronologyCom I agree that it's a very impressive discovery. As you noted, there are other locations suspected of activity of liquid water, but not as distinct as Newton Crater. The MRO has looked at this crater for some time, capturing views for at least the span of a season, so it's not exactly the 'moment' of discovery. But it's certainly the strongest evidence yet. Great spot for a rover to explore, but maybe a bit too steep. Nice vid!

  • Hubble is powerfull but stars and galaxies give off massive amounts of energy Mars only bounces off the suns light . The mars probe is right next to mars with a high res camera and it has all its time devoted to Mars.
