Fatal Fury 2 review. Classic Game Room reviews FATAL FURY 2 for Sega Genesis from Takara and SNK, the 16-bit version of SNK's awesome Neo-Geo fighting game originally released in 1992. Featuring improved visuals and sound compared to the first Fatal Fury on Genesis, Fatal Fury 2 also has more fighters (12 total that I know of) and a survival mode as well as six-button Sega Genesis controller support. Background visuals, fighter details and the overall graphics aren't up to SNK Neo-Geo standards but look good for the mighty Sega Genesis (aka Sega Mega Drive). CGR Fatal Fury 2 video review features Sega Genesis Fatal Fury 2 gameplay and characters like Andy, Terry, Mai, Big Bear, Joe Higashi, Cheng Sinzan, Kim Kaphwan, Axel Hawk, Laurence Blood,
Wolfgang Krauser, Billy Kane and more.

Considering the genesis' hardware, this is actually a damn fine port of the MUCH LARGER (memory wise) Neo Geo gam. I still have the Neo Geo cart. The main difference is the sprite sizes and colors on screen. The controls are a bit better on the Geo as well, but this was still a great way to play the game sans Neo Geo back in the day.

There's also an XBLA version available.

I loved this version of the game. Loved Krausers theme on the Genesis.

I think this is a great version , how does this play with six buttons when the arcade version plays with three ?

i always liked AoF better...the character sprites were so large and detailed, plus it didnt have that annoying background/foreground step game mechanic..i always hated that

The Genesis version might've been priced for a whole lot less than the Neo Geo version. But it was still A LOT for a video game. I remember seeing it go for like $70.
