The BAG vehicle (Bundesamt für Güterverkehr) has installed a power supply system based on a lithium ion battery and a 230V sine wave inverter. The lithium ion battery is charged from the excess energy of the alternator. The lithium battery is replacing a fuel cell and the energy is generated by the vehicle, there is no external power supply. The control vehicle, a Mercedes Sprinter, is driving to and from checkpoints, all-day. The power system from Clayton Power consists of a lithium ion battery http://www.claytonpower.com/products/lithium-ion-battery/ for 230V: a pure sine wave inverter http://www.claytonpower.com/products/sine-wave-inverters/ and a display/remote.
