This weather station consists an annemometer for wind speed and wind direction meter, I have been
using this one since 2004 and it works well for my needs along with the digital themometer. Problem is that it needs to be taken down for maintenence cause of Tropical Storm Ernesto blow it over.

  • Looks like a Downeaster weather station. They make pretty decent wind sensors. Should work for a long time!

  • Yes it is. I got the weather station from a Thrift Store called Shelter Thrift in 1999. I started putting the weather station up in a different location, then when I moved I put it in the other location. The bad news is that Tropical Storm Ernesto took a bite off the wind direction sensor and left the ananometer behind. When I moved the station fell apart and I have to get a new one soon in the future when I get a house.

  • Is this a homebrew annemometer or a commercial device? It's pretty much windy every day here and I have had to replace commercial annemeter sensors several times for they ware out so fast. That's good that yours still works since 2004!

  • Its a commercially made one yes, but the wind direction sensor got blown off by the tropical storm winds during Sept 1 2006 when Ernesto started to hit us bad with flooded waters. I will be moving to an apartment soon with someone I love and will be monitoring temperatures and possibly getting a small version of a weather station for an apartment next year. If likely the old one will be replaced by a new one from Wind and Weather. take care for now.
