@Checkingokop The same Gogol' had to create 2 versions of "Taras Bulba", cuz the first didn't liked to zar, because there was no word "russian" - only "kozak", "slavic" and in most - "ukrainian". That is the fact.
Poets, created art about ukrainian fame and glory, were destroyed or deported.
Our autonomie in USSR was only on the paper and u know it.
-
@Checkingokop But only moscow prince destroyed Kyiv, only moscow zars were using deportatiton and genocides, so we re not relatives.
Well 7 mln ukr. people died in golodomor, 14 mln - during ww2, the biggest part of war between USSR and Germany was on territory of Ukraine and after war noone helped us to recover economy, they even gave Krym to us, wich was totaly destroyed.
-
@MrOrchestraman So youre proud of other nationalists who fought for independence? pathetic: This is what you SHOULD be proud of. When Ukraine was under Russian rule, great people like Gogol' and Tchaikovski were creating art. Under soviet rule Ukraine was allowed to Ukranize and its culture and academics flourished, until Stalin's Holodomor. After WW2 Ukraine was the TOP republic in USSR, industrializing at very rapid pace. IN 1948 it became a member of the UN because it was AUTONOMOUS in USSR.

@MrOrchestraman They were ALL separate principalities of the same nation RUS' Ruthenia.

@Checkingokop What else am i proud of?
Im very proud of KR and Zaporosian Kossaks, im proud of T. Shevchenko, I. Franko and other people lived in very hard times, showed themselfes betterway. Im proud of our people, fighting on 2 fronts (against USSR and Germany). And i have a bit of hate to "heroes of wars" (not all), killing our wifes and children. The same people by the way, wich, maybe, you proud of!

@Checkingokop Novgorod? why Novhorod? it was separate principality and i don't know why u wrote it. By the way there was an very cruel war between Moscow and Novgorod and it finished very sad for novgorodians (дословно - "кровавой баней"). And after a CENTURIE they rised, but zar Ivan Groznuj suppressed the revolt and deported 7 000 of novgorodian gentry. The same thing russians did to all conquered people - destroyed leaders.

@MrOrchestraman Novgorod to Kiev to Moscow. = Rus' = Russia. case closed.
-
@MrOrchestraman man, im not going to argue about your made up history, that no one outside of Ukraine believes, but please tell me: What exactly are you proud of in Ukraine, besides the made up history of Kievan Rus'? Please tell me, that besides being so called "independence", what else are you proud of and why?

@Checkingokop And one more thing about word "ukraine". First time this word appears in 1185, when prince (князь) of Pereyaslav died, and in chronicle writes, that "The whole ukraine(it means Pereyaslav Ukraine) was crying for him". So the word ukraine = land of principality. But after that came Batu-Han, then litauens, so the word "Rus'" slovly disappeared here. And so the population used the word, wich means "our land = our ukraine".
-
@Checkingokop P.S. The word "Russia" appeares in all historical documents in 1721 (Peter I). Before that your country was called Moscow Principality. In 16-17th cent. the word "Rus'" was used about 3 big cities - Kyiv, Cgernigiv and Pereyaslav. In 18-19th cent. poland's used this word to Westukraine. But the same poland's never used this word to Moscow, because this are different lands. We had no STATE, but noone renamed or lands.
