I was the Performance Enhancement Platoon Commander at the United States Coast Guard Academy during the summer of 2003. Pretty much we had to get all the worst performers in "Swab Summer" and whip them into shape in four days. This was the opening speech I gave to introduce them to their..um..situation

  • It's still intense though...not from personal experience of being sent to PEP but its once a week during ICS period and they purposely run them around to where all the companies are playing...if you even glance at them...the PEP cadre are on you in a second...it is scary as hell just to hear it let alone be a part of it...and its only for 2 1/2 hours a week...I can't imagine four days. Of course, PEP is every week now...was it every week in 2003?

  • no it was twice during swab summer..two different sets of cadre. i took the second one..I don't know how they could get anything done in 2.5 hours..that's ridiculous.

  • one afternoon? CGA is getting soft

  • any of the thing you just named can be a reason

  • @killerrey To the academy or to whats happening to them?

  • so who gets sent here, is it their physical performence, tests, or just attitudes?

  • how can you swear to defend the constitution while you wipe your ass with the bill of rights...? why doesn't one of those kids bash some cadre fuck over the head with a plugged m1?

  • that place was such a mindfuck...i threw a bowling ball out 4th deck window into that quad...wish it had crushed one of those dorks... thanks for the free 'education'

  • I don't know...those 2.5 hours seemed pretty productive. Not as much as four days but the kids in my company who came back from PEP definitely had different attitudes.

  • You look nice in your uniform.
