  • I don't think he stole it, I thnk he's taking credit for the video. If you notice, they're using Cal-Earth sand bags.

  • i think these homes are really wonderful, they all seem to be built in very arid enviroments. i live in ohio, its humid, it rains a fair amount, and the dirt here is wonderful for growing, it has a lot of organic material in it. can anyone point me to an example thats been built in a similar enviroment>? :)

  • @bearshaman0 The principle should be the same. Earth and dirt both absorb a decent amount of rainfall. if you are seriously considering this as a way to build your home, you may want to put a layer of plastic over the sand bags. plants and other foliage also help to absorb rain, and they help to keep your house warm if they are planted on the roof.

  • @gotmyfingerrscrowsed They do very good in earthquakes actually. I recently read an article on earthbag homes in Haiti that were completely undamaged after the recent devastating earthquake. Other more poorly constructed homes around them were flattened and they were totally unscathed. An earthbag home that is built right is very safe from just about anything that nature throws at it save perhaps a meteorite. ;-)

  • @bearshaman0 A properly constructed earthen home can work in any environment. I am looking into various alternative building techniques like earthbag, cob, strawbale, rammed earth, and the like and plan on building one in the somewhat near future. They all have definite pluses and minuses. Do a simple google search for "green home building" for example and you can find some good info.

  • @gotmyfingerrscrowsed

they are the strongest of them all for everything... but not so easy to make.

Dome is the strongest shape, like coconat, egg etc...

  • I love the imperfections in the design it is pure beauty and art. I understan the inventer of this method of construction has passed he left a wonderful work behind and should recieve more praise than I can offer him.

  • after 8.0 earthquake dome becomes doom
