The next few weeks were pretty much the same. Frankie and Mr and Mrs Jonas arrived at our place a week after the Deb practice. They were really nice and our parents bonded alot. One day we called my dads brother Noel and his family and my grandparents and aunt and cousins over for dinner. Dionne was Noels son and they had a daughter, Sanchia who was 13. My other cousins from my mums side, Warren and Ryan, were 28 and 26. Kevin was with them most of the time. We had a lot of fun and ended up playing truth or dare most of the time. At one stage, Nick landed on dare and Sanchia, Steph and I gave him a makeover. It was really funny; we even straightened his hair. But he refused to let us take a picture.
At school, I had many people asking me if I could get the Jonas Brothers autographs. I needed to lie and tell them that they werent staying with me to get the girls off my back.
It was soon 3 days before the Deb. The whole Jonas clan were coming, including their bandmates. The girls at the Deb got used to having Joe around and didnt ask him for pictures that often.
It was Thursday and Joe and I agreed on seeing a movie. We had become really close now and were like best friends. We ended up not watching nothing because there was nothing really good on. (I checked on the Internet). So Joe decided we should go to the park. I didnt hesitate because I really needed to get out of the house. I was about to call the others but Joe told me not to.
I looked at him confused and then shrugged it off.
We walked over to our nearby park (well it was actually a lake) and sat down on a bench. It was a really nice sunny day and there were ducks in the lake. It was really cute. We started talking about school and homework and exams.
"Hey Sam, this is probably gonna sound a little bit strange but I was just curious."
"Uh-huh"
"Well you know your family is pretty religious, just like mine right?"
"Yeah?"
"Well" he looked down at his purity ring, as if it was a cheat sheet he could read out to me.
"Umdo you think you would actually 'do it' before marriage?"
I knew exactly what he meant.
"OMG NO!!!!" I almost yelled. Joe was a little taken back.
"Im sorry, I just wasnt prepared..i mean I didnt know you were gonna ask me I mean it was surprisingI mean."
"Yeah Im sorry, it was rude of me to ask you that" he sounded guilty.
"No I mean it was ok to ask but I just didnt know you would ask now. Wait, why did you ask me that?"
"Just wondering. I didnt offend you did I?"
"Oh of course not" I gave him a quick smile, and then he suddenly took my hand. He felt pretty warm compared to me.
"Look Sam, Ive known you for a while now..and this is gonna sound cheesy but I feel like Ive known you my whole life..and I really like you.and I was wondering..will you be my girlfriend?"
Inside I was screaming, joyously of course. I couldnt speak, I didnt know what to say. Joe freaking Jonas just asked me to be his girlfriend. A million girls would kill to be in my position. I mustve been quiet for a pretty long time because Joe was still waiting for an answer and I was still trying to let it all sink in, not that there was much to sink in, I mean it was just one question.
"Sam?" I didnt respond, still thinking.
"Sam? Please say something, this is getting really awkward"
I was still in shock, but I knew I couldnt leave him hanging, so I opened my mouth hoping that something will come out.
