@roflmaome I agree with you. I think that in my case I need something that would be a little more flexible/powerful. The alternative 'combo' was only £12 anyway. At that price I might as well get that AND a tiny IR remote for situations that require less kit! Thanks

does it work with d90?

can you use continuous shooting with it?

I bought the wired version. The button on the remote I am getting works like the on on the camera, goes halfway press and full press

An even better test would be to walk further and further away from the camera to test it's indoor range. Then try a similar test outdoors too. I would imagine that being outdoors would limit range significantly, as well as having to be more directly in front of the camera.
I have seen these types of remote on ebay, just wondering whether to spent another few quid and get a remote/receiver combo. Not so much for massive range, but more importantly angles to the camera.

@fauldzuk Well, for outdoor use you want to be close. Since I posted this video two years ago I've used this thing in many different situations and it's certainly usable and it's not any worse than Nikons own IR-remote.
Now, on the subject of dropping the few bucks for a thing like this, or a "proper" wired or wireless remote, that depends on how and where you plan to use it. Personally I tend to mostly use the timer on the camera set at 5-10 seconds...

@roflmaome I appreciate the rapid response. What I like about your remote is portability, perhaps I will get one of these as well as a 'proper' alternative. I was shooting some nesting birds in the garden the other day, & I would like to be well away from the camera.
Just for your reference the remote/receiver combo I was talking about can be found if you run a google/ebay search for: wireless remote switch for Nikon D3 D700 D1H D1X D300. They seem fairly cheap too!

@fauldzuk I got no experience with those, but I've seen then when browsing eBay. They probably work, these things are very simple, not exactly high-tech. For a scenario like you suggest I'd go for something else than an IR-remote!

Hi, does this remote autofocus?
JPetrucci744 2 years ago
It makes the camera try to focus on whatever is under the selected focus area, yeah, and then fire. You can prefocus by half-pressing the shutter release button, or set the camera to manual focus to achieve instant shutter release.
