Gebisa Ejeta, Distinguished Professor of Agronomy and a 2009 World Food Prize laureate, has developed sorghum varieties resistant to drought and the parasitic weed Striga. The new varieties allow the grain to feed more people in Ejeta's native Ethiopia and other African countries.
