Instructions on how to install and align a motorized satellite dish.

Steps to a successful motorized system installation:
~ Select your installation site carefully!!!

~ There must be a clear line of sight between the required satellites and the entire surface of the dish. The line of sight must be free from obstructions, such as trees, roof tiles etc.

~ It is very important to make sure the HH motor is fixed to a perfectly vertical (plumb) mast. Time spent measuring this accurately will save you hours later on.

~ NOTE: Tighten all coaxial cable connections on the motor only by hand. Using a wrench may over-tighten the connections, causing damage. Such damage is not covered by the Limited warranty.

~ If the HH motor shaft is not at zero degrees reference, you should get it back to zero degrees by connecting the receiver to the motor. The receiver must be ON for the HH Motor to move. Its easier to do this before placing the H-H Motor onto the mast. Once you have done this, the HH Motor should then be disconnected from the receiver. HH Motors are usually set to zero degrees by default from the factory.

~ Fit the H-H Motor onto the mast and do the nuts up finger tight,

~ Set the elevation angle for the motor. This angle should be equal to the latitude value of the installation location. Always use the Latitude scale on the motor.

~ Fit the dish on the H-H Motor shaft and tighten the nuts. The middle of the dish clamp must be lined up with the center line on the H-H Motor arm. The LNBF arm, dish clamp, HH Motor, and mast must all be on the same straight line facing TRUE SOUTH.

~ Aiming at TRUE SOUTH: Find your TRUE SOUTH Angle here. Then using a compass, move the dish/motor assembly together as one unit to your TRUE SOUTH angle.

~ Dish elevation angle: Adjust the dish elevation angle to peak the signal. Dish elevation angle is calculated based on the model of the HH motor you are using, as follows:

  • Hi, I have a satellite dish that has two cables which are Nilesat and Badr (Arabsat) but I also want to add Hotbird with them which means there will be 3. I heard that you can just set up a Hotbird LNB on it and it will work, but I'm no expert and I tried to research but I couldn't understand how to, Any Help Please?

  • @mTa700 Yes you can and you will need to use a 4-way DiSEqC switch.

  • I have a Direct TV worlddirect dish i think its 33" wide and 20Length. would i able to get 97w or do i need to a 39" and whats your recomendation on best LNB to get 97w.

  • @ThuyNgaVanson YES, YOU CAN USE THIS DISH AS A MOTORIZED ANTENNA FOR FTA. THE LNBF THAT COMES WITH IT WILL WORK JUST FINE. WE ACTUALLY HAVE ONE SETUP LIKE THAT AT THE OFFICE.

  • How do you protect your satellite dish and electronic equipment from lightenings?? I've heard that there's such a very low probability of being hit... you know once get an expensive led 3d tv you just want those things away lol!

  • @Nando85Q GROUND IT ACCORDING TO NEC GUIDELINES.

  • Easiest way to find "True South"

Divide the time evenly between Sunrise and Sunset for your location.

Turn the motor and dish assembly by hand towards the Sun at that time.

Tighten down the bolts and adjust Dish Elevation according to specs.

    That's it - You're finished.

    Takes about 5 minutes.

  • @SadounTube WHAT?

  • On the video you say that for this motor the dish elevation angle must be 35 degrees minus the declination angle which is used to find the true azimuth of a location and is a function (changes with) of the longitude and latitude. Why you have to subtract this value from your disc elevation angle if this value has not effect on the motor/disc interaction? Please explain. Thanks

  • @SadounTube I will probably have to contact the techguy since I have contacted Fortec without any luck. I am using another receiver now which seem to work fine even though it say that I don't have any quality levels. Thanks for the information on the Fortec Receiver.
