No game system is greater than the other. PS3 just had a slightly bad timing and bad pricing, but I would definately buy one just because of FF.

Am I talking about the novels or fantasy movies in general? Just because it's based on the original inspiration for fantasy in general doesn't mean it's the original fantasy movie.

that I do, I can at least see what they were doing with 9, trying to give it a more retro-esq feel to the game with the characters being typical class types. 10?...yeah no. 10-2?....fail. "OoOooOH!??! YUNA DANCING!?!? OoOOoOOooOO!!" yeeaah nooo nooo lets..lets just stop that right there lol. After Squaresoft became Square Enix?...the FF series has tanked. FF1-9 were the best ones of the series, and yes, I include 7, despite hating it, it's better than the new stuff they spew out now.

That said, VII had a depth to its characters and locations that current games lack. Each had their own story, drive and history that made them seperate but akin at the same time. It worked hard to allow the player to see them as people rather than the basic archetypes that they were/started. True its graphics made Tomb Raider look realistic but with Square it seems that its either story or cinematics. Plus it seems they have gotten lazy with their character designs after 8. Gotta admit that.

Uh, well there's a lot more to VII than Sephiroth and the current iterations of the game which ventures far from the original feel of the characters. I agree with you that many aspects of the game is way over rated like what people like to believe Cloud was like. There was no point in the game where Cloud was a real stoic badass like everyone believes. He was an arrogant and reckless jerk in the beginning, a whining directionless kid in the middle and a driven guy at the end.

that's your opinion and I respect it, personally I find the story to be severely lacking in many aspects such as character development, and story plot. RIGHT at disk 1, you know Sephiroth is the bad guy.....how many other FFs tell you on DISK ONE...the main bad guy, and the goal of ALL your struggles? FF8? you dont find out about ultimecia until waaaay later. FF9? Kuja, wait no, something bigger behind him. It was the first 3D FF, ok, but...I dont see what made it so great : /

Not sure if you realize this, but most people that played FFVII played it before they were exposed to anime, particularly the cliche shonen genre. I suppose if the first movie someone watched was Lord of the Rings that would be overrated because it was inspired by the 1000 different medieval movies beforehand.
