I guess you have never been to the philippines and experienced the customary way people drive there? It is not unusual for cars to blow right through stop signs and to see two cars sharing one lane. LOL.
I have experienced it both in a car and as a pedestrian. The interaction between motor vehicle traffic and pedestrian traffic is, to say the least, an interesting experience.
