Spongebob tries to tie his shoes for Patrick, but they keep tying themselves so he keeps untying them so he can tie them himself. And he finally masters it! He then decides to be funny by wearing gloves on his feet and a hat on his butt. He then watches a sports show, but doesn't like it so he watches a dancing flower.

Spongebob moonwalks across the room slowly. Then, Spongebob has a nightmare where his shoelaces constrict him and then untie themselves. Spongebob then crawls backwards from the floor, hoping to find someone who can help him tie his shoes. He fixes the floor by walking through it. Spongebob runs backwards to his house, happy that he made it. He's sad that his shoes haven't untied, so he goes to bed, and dreams that he is an egg. He wakes up and then Patrick comes in his door.

Spongebob runs to the Krusty Krab and asks some people about sushi when he means to ask them about shoes. Spongebob goes to work. Squidward is fat from eating all the krabby patties, and Mr. Krabs shows himself in his underwear to attract customers. He then goes to the bathroom as Spongebob squirts water on the floor and cries because he can't tie his shoes. Everyone demands Squidward to regurgitate the krabby patties for Spongebob to put on the grill.

Spongebob and Gary are singing a shoe song, but then Gary unties Spongebob's shoe and use his super suction move to make Spongebob forget how to tie his shoes. Spongebob goes to see the Flying Dutchman and watches him make some knots, and even untie some. But right as Spongebob is about to ask the dutchman how to tie his shoes, he disappears and starts yelling. He asks people where the dutchman went, and a sea monster inhales Spongebob through its blowhole and regurgitates him.
