Two minutes of silence spreads across the nation of Israel. It's Holocaust Remembrance Day. Residents pause to reflect and honor the six million Jews killed by the Nazis. Here in the small Israeli city of Nes Zionna, one of the memorial events is taking place. Ms. Elazari came here with her granddaughter. She says that for her, this day is a kind of personal victory over the Nazis. [Aviva Elazari, Holocaust Survivor]: (Hebrew-Female) "I have no grandfathers and no grandmothers. All of them were murdered, killed in the concentration camps." Ms. Elazari says it's not just the Jews who have suffered persecution and genocide. [Aviva Elazari, (no 2nd title bar)]: (Hebrew-Female) "There are still people facing the same things now that the Jews faced those days—in faraway places, in third world countries… It's really horrific and the U.N. doesn't do much to help them." [Yogev Ohad, ]: (Hebrew-Male) "It's simply unbelievable what kind of monsters man can breed within himself." But Chairman of the Hebrew Writers Association, Balfour Hakak is working to end these kinds of crimes against humanity. He contributes much of his time and energy to stopping the persecution of innocent people inside China. [Balfour Hakak, Israeli Writer]: (Hebrew-Male) "A voice should be raised from one corner of the world to another—in order to change public opinion, in order to stop the Chinese regime's massacre of Tibetans and Falun Gong. Holocaust Remembrance Day is a suitable date to stand up and raise our voices to prevent more holocausts in the world." This is Yael Pekin. Both of her parents survived the Holocaust. And these days she's involved in a special project to preserve the memory of the Holocaust. [Yael Pekin ]: (Hebrew-Female) "Not only to talk, no only to tell, but to work with the youngsters—the next generation—so that this kind of thing can never happen again." NTD News, Israel.
