Turn off write protect on the MicroKorg XL

The Microkorg XL comes with Write protection turned on by default, it took me a bit of searching to figure out how to change this, so I thought I'd make it a bit easier for anyone who searches for this.


The background music is a preview of my independantly produced album I will be releasing soon. The original song has been modified to better fit as background music.

One last question (whilst I'm here :P), can you add new patches to the MicroKORG XL or can you only edit the pre-built ones?

I was planning on using the Editor on my computer to copy an existing patch, then alter it and save it as a new one, then sync it to the XL.

The microkorg can only hold 176 patches, and there are already that many patches when it ships from the factory. You'll have to overwrite another patch you don't care for

Is this a permanent change, or does it need to be changed in the Global settings to be permanent?

Yes to both questions actually. It is permanent, and this is in the global settings. To my knowledge it is not possible to turn on write protection for individual patches.

turn the second knob until you find it, global is the category, and the second knob will go through the folder.
