Thames in particular were quite heavily envolved in the SES company in it's early years, having a notable stake in it and playing a major rôle in the technological, financial etc. planning of the Astra satellite system, and I think (but could be wrong here) that they may have been one of SES's co-founders.
In northern england an 80cm dish pulled it in better than a 60cm one.
