Bubbled under the Billboard Hot 100 at #104 in 1960. B-side of "Answer Me My Love". Remake of a 1916 hit for Billy Murray and Ada Jones. It became a UK hit again for Emile Ford and The Checkmates in the '50's and again for Shakin' Stevens in 1987.

A very good version of this song! I never heard it before. It's interesting how he changed the original duet lyrics to fit a solo performance (especially how in the original it is the woman who tells the man that he's the one flirting with dynamite). I like Ray Peterson´s version much better than Emile Fords. But I would also like to mention that it was also recorded in Sweden in January, 1960 by Scandinavia´s great rock´n roll pioneer Rock-Ragge. I have never really understood what makes people think that Emile Ford´s records are so great. I don´t think so, and I have never bought them. According to Ford himself (who was a technical genius) he said that the secret behind his success was the microphones he build himself.

I'm guessing someone heard Emile Ford's version of this (a huge hit in the UK in late '59/early '60) and figured Ray could get similar success in the States. However, unlike his fine cover of "Corrine, Corrina," he simply doesn't make this his own. Listen to Ford's version; it's much tighter, more direct. and his vocal style suits the song better than Ray's quivering.
