Atlanta was the first major U.S. city to build public housing projects, now, the Atlanta Housing Authority plans to be the first to tear down all of the public housing projects.
…Atlanta is truly, the Mecca of the south, it’s a city of opportunity and 21st century innovation and growth for all to be proud of. There are few cities in the US and around the world that truly excite and inspire me, and Atlanta, Georgia is at the top of that list. I implore all the residence of ATL to embrace the changes and create even better ideas to improve an already great city. "I LOVE ATLANTA"!!!...and I'm from Miami, Florida.
…This is why I will move to Atlanta to retire in 2023. The city of Atlanta is model for the rest of the country, in that it shows the world, how African-American’s, civic leaders and its populous together, can create a place of pride and economic prosperity in the deep-south. It further displays how through cooperation and innovation it can transform a city once burned to the ground during the Civil War into a capitalistic city of growth, and urban sprawl for all to enjoy.
Minorities and the poor have to learn to embrace change, thereby altering their mentality about gentrification and shed the hopelessness and disenfranchised label that has plagued the poor for decades. I'm so happy to see the City of Atlanta tearing down these prisons without walls that have imprisoned minorities for more than six-decades. The Major and the City Council should be commended in their efforts to improve the quality of life for all Atlanta’s residence.
Most of the former project tenants moved further out to other areas and brought the crime and other mess along with them. Atlanta, wanted the prime real estate that the projects rested on....point blank.
