Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art, which means "the way of kicking and punching". In taekwondo, hands and feet can be used to overcome an opponent, but the trademark of the sport is its combination of kick movements. Taekwondo is one of the two Asian martial arts included on the Olympic programme. Taekwondo made its debut as a demonstration Olympic sport at the 1988 Seoul Games, and became an official medal sport at the 2000 Sydney Games.

Well let's be realistic. MMA destroys any respect that a rigid "artform" martial art competition can gleen from an exhibition event.... and that's what this is, an exhibition, not a fight.

Well although i Sorta agree, Taekwondo (orignal form) is nothing like this. It originates from Hawrgan, Which where soilders of Korea around 2500 years ago. They would use feet aswell as kicks. Alot of arm grapples aswell. Currently, Taekwondo has turned into a sport. I study both WTF TKD and aswell as Kick boxing Taekwondo, and i have to say that taekwondo would have a good chance in a fight with an MMA fighter (of equal or close range weight). Please understand this is only an opinion.

no doubt.i agree wth u..i dont have any hstory in taekwondo cmpettion but i know the rules..the changes of rule in taekwondo cmpttion and the advancement of tools made the sparring looks very akward especially for the point on the head and the electronic vest.but anyway thats the mdrnztion meant to be.

nheeb .. martial arts are not only for fight ! i knw that if you are a martial artist .hmm martial arts builds the character to have a discipline :)
